Capt. Matt Lough

Capt. Matt Lough was introduced to fly fishing as a teenager, and what began as a pastime shared with his grandfather soon developed into a lifelong passion. Those early days on the water sparked a love for the sport that would ultimately shape his path as a professional fly-fishing guide.

Over the years, Matt has built a wealth of guiding experience across a variety of freshwater fisheries, honing his skills while wading, rafting, and poling waters in places such as Broken Bow, Oklahoma, the Lower Mountain Fork River region, and Lake Ray Roberts in North Texas. These experiences helped shape his versatility as an angler and guide, preparing him for the challenges and rewards of pursuing fish in diverse environments.

In 2020, Matt turned his attention to the Texas coast, eager to explore the opportunities its expansive saltwater flats had to offer. It didn’t take long for him to discover a new passion: sight-casting to hard-charging redfish across the shallow, pristine waters of the Texas coastline. Since then, he’s become a dedicated advocate for coastal fly fishing and the unique challenges that make it so rewarding.

Today, Matt takes great pride in sharing that passion with others, helping fellow anglers develop their skills, build confidence, and experience the excitement of sight-casting to redfish from the bow of a technical poling skiff. For Matt, there’s nothing quite like watching an angler connect with a fish in skinny water – and helping create the kind of memories that keep people coming back to the sport.
