This stretch of Texas, commonly referred to as the Coastal Bend region, is home to incredible numbers of ducks and geese. However, it’s the large populations of migrating Gadwall, Widgeon, Pintail, Canvasback, Redhead and Teal that keep our duck hunting customers coming back year after year.

 

Bay Flats Lodge is located in a leading staging area along the western edge of the Gulf of Mexico. This vast ecosystem gives you the option to spend the morning hunting and the afternoon fishing – the best of both worlds in one day. 

 

Whether you’re hunting over full-bodied decoys out of a remote marsh blind, or shooting at cupped wings out of a pop-up blind at the bay’s edge, you’ll enjoy the company of our experienced guides who share their vast knowledge of our region and its diverse local bird species. HUNTER EDUCATION CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Every hunter in Texas (including out-of-state hunters) born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must successfully complete hunter education (Texas recognizes Hunter Education certificates from all other states and provinces). Minimum age for certification is 9 years and the cost is $15.

If you were born on or after September 2, 1971 and you are:

  • under 9 years of age, you must be accompanied*.
  • age 9 through 16, you must successfully complete hunter education, OR you must be accompanied.
  • age 17 and over, you must successfully complete hunter education; OR purchase a “Hunter Education Deferral,” and you must be accompanied.

For the upcoming 2026-27 Duck Season, Bay Flats Lodge will be offering duck hunting trips ONLY during the second-half of the season, which will be December 12, 2026, through January 31, 2027 (there will be no duck hunting at Bay Flats Lodge during the first-half of the 2026-27 Duck Season).

 

HALF-DAY DUCK HUNTING RATES – INCLUDES LODGING, MEALS, HUNTING, DUCK CLEANING, AND TAXES (MORNING OR AFTERNOON DUCK HUNT)
  • Half-Day Duck Hunt 4 hunters – $450/person
  • Half-Day Duck Hunt 3 hunters – $475/person
  • Half-Day Duck Hunt 2 hunters – $570/person
  • An Extra Night of Lodging & 2 Meals – $236/person

 

EQUIPMENT RENTALS
  • Simms Chest-Waders and Simms Wading Boots Rental – $35/day
  • Simms Wading Boots Only Rental – $20/day
  • We supply rod and reels when fishing from the boat.
  • If you plan to wade fish, we encourage you to bring your own rod and reel.
  • You can also rent a rod and reel from your guide if wade fishing – $30/day
  • Benelli 12-gauge Shotgun Rental – $65/day
  • 12-gauge 3-inch steel shot shotgun shells – $35/box
