How many times have you fished the very same spot you just caught limits of trout at the day before, only to find nothing? Not even a bite! Well, you’re not alone. It happens to us guides as well.
According to Peter M. “We decided to hunt for bigger fish today, and Captain Nick did a really good job, he is great!” We finished up with 12 fish, and caught some solid reds on topwater plugs.
The rest of the BFL team found themselves on a short rope, most guests needed to be on the road before noon. Trout fishing was very slow; wasn’t really an option, so red fish became the main target.
As of late, the patterns for redfish have been over deeper mud near the grasses edge. Live shrimp continues to produce reds while using a popping cork. With frequent cold fronts, look for trout to slide into deeper channels, passes, and bayous.
The lodge is playing host to a company entertaining their customers and showing the appreciation by giving them a fishing trip. Wednesday evening everyone enjoyed the door prizes, give aways, and the Bay Flats Lodge fishing rods we sponsored, along with BFL Gift Cards to the pro shop.
