Fishing was outstanding for red fish limits with artificial lures. According to Captain TJ, “I personally released 8 reds while walking back to the boat.” He stated most large schools of reds were staged over hard sand just outside of area drains. New penny gulps tipped with 1/8 oz. heads proved best. Wade fishing undulations with grass beds paid the best dividends.
With 42 duck hunters Saturday, the majority of our groups limited out on redheads while some groups averaged 14-16 ducks per party. We witnessed some of the largest flights of divers this season. There were a couple of groups that had very poor hunts, mostly due to lack of air traffic, and not being set up under the flight zones.
