Brandon was born in North Carolina, where his grandfather introduced him to fly-fishing as soon as Brandon could hold a fishing rod. Throughout his childhood, Brandon chased panfish, bass, or whatever would eat a popping bug. Brandon also spent vacation weekends in Atlantic Beach North Carolina targeting flounder, drum, croaker, and mackerel from the piers. His family relocated to Missouri in the early 2000’s and a co-worker introduced him to southern Missouri trout streams while he was attending college – reigniting his passion for fly fishing. Brandon always wanted to move back to the coast, and he has since settled in Tampa, Florida. He’s been fishing the area for 8 years and has been guiding professionally for 3 of those years, specializing in sight fishing for Tarpon, Redfish, and Snook.
Brandon discovered the Texas coastline in 2016 while vacationing there with his wife. He fell in love with the fishery and has been fascinated with getting back there ever since. He now splits time between fishing the Florida Gulf coast and the Texas coast. Brandon specializes in fly-fishing and sight fishing using artificial lures.
Brandon has experience in education through teaching high school, and as a squad leader in the U.S. Army. He loves teaching people the fundamentals and finer aspects of fly casting, presentation, and fly tying. He’d be happy to schedule a lesson in fly casting or fly tying during your stay at Bay Flats Lodge to accompany your guided trip. Brandon is typically available at Bay Flats Lodge from mid-July to the end of September.
