Bay Flats Lodge on San Antonio Bay Report by Captain Chris Martin
November 9, 2012
Captain Harold had the pleasure to fish guests from his local town of Yorktown, and found solid trout action for them. They must have landed 100 trout, and It was live shrimp under popping corks that produced. Checking in with limits was Captain Rick with Earnest W. and Will from the Lake Austin area. Live shrimp under a cork worked well for them, as well. Russell J. and guests enjoyed their annual adventure to the big water with monster red fish specialists Captain Nathan. We call these fish “Monsters of the marsh.” As you can see in the photos, it was plan crazy. Please remember we release all these fish to swim another day.
Blast & Cast
Captain Jonathan & Captain Nick teamed up with Dave S. and guests for a blast & cast on Thursday. According to the guests, “We had 22- ducks with Captain Jonathan, and 10 really nice birds with Captain Nick.” Shortly after a wonderful lunch of duck soup, Captain Jonathan switched from guns to rods, and keyed in on the monsters of the marsh. They managed one really nice over-sized bull red. Meanwhile Captain Nick drifted the bay, unfortunately the wind reached 20-25 mph and made fishing tough. They did find scores of small trout and reds for their efforts.
Winds Building on Friday
Friday morning we welcome Jeff & guests back, Dave S. party, Gene T. crew, back and returning guests Greg S. in for a 9-boat schedule. We have several groups duck hunting, wade fishing lures, and the rest of our parties will be drifting the bay while fighting the building south wind ahead of a strong cold front. Reports to follow!
