Another round of meetings for the third week with the same guests along with duck hunting and fishing, always makes meetings fun. Thanks to these guests, the lodge has been running booked up week-after-week. Shortly after saying goodbye with one hand, we turned right around and said hello to one of the largest building supply companies for a two-day fishing and meeting event.
Believe it or not sand trout are complimenting our catches along with solid limits to near limits of speckled trout. Redfish focus also has increased with better catches of late. Guests are experiencing amazing top water action over bay grass and sand pockets, especially on the windward shores of these back ponds.
For our guests, we just added 2-acres of LED lighted concrete pathway from the main lodge to the new lodge. It’s so pretty to look at and who doesn’t love lights around the trees.
The lodge welcomes Captain Cody Spencer. Meet Cody Spencer a former American football linebacker. Cody was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round of the 2004 NFL Draft and played football at North Texas. Spencer also played for the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets. As a junior at Grapevine, Texas he helped lead his team to the Division I Class 4A State Championship. After leaving the NFL, he accepted a football coaching Job at Teas High School in Texarkana, Texas. As a young man, Cody’s childhood was spent fishing and duck hunting the Port O’Connor Seadrift bay systems. His grandfather was a fulltime commercial shrimper in Seadrift. Recently Cody decided to join his roots in Seadrift/Port O’Connor and raise his family where he was raised. Cody has a natural ability to show and teach his fishing guests. He runs a 2015 Shoalwater Cat boat and an airboat for duck hunting.
