Happy Memorial Day! Grateful for everyone who has served or is serving our country making it possible to do what we love every day.
Capt. Stephen Boriskie
Solid day with coastal newbies from the Big D! Calvin and son Travis decided long ago it was time for a Lewis and Clark style scout trip to this fabled destination called Mid Coast at the famous Bay Flats Lodge and it was worth the planning. Day one with Capt Jason Moz in an afternoon of high wind managed a solid effort at our treasured salty species and stretched the trip beyond normal time with favorable results. Hammered with a double pork chop that would choke a gator the father son duo rolled up in a cozy bunk for the night to wake at a 5 am buzz on the alarm and rolled out to a world class breakfast suitable for dignitaries from even the largest countries. Met with lodge dog Crash going and coming the guys gave way to the goose bumps and slapped the last mosquito of the AM and jumped on the cart ride to the docks. Slip number 9 boys I say as they stomp down the dock with renewed determination to get after today’s fish. Capt. Stephen I say and darn nice to meet ya…and off we went for a shallow bay fish sticking time in now fresh and clear saltwater since the winds had calmed overnight. Results favorable and customers satisfied to return soon and bring more family, we called it a day and swung the big 24 around South busting in the harbor greeted by pelicans from all over the coast waiting for the cleaning table offerings…already there are and had been the legends of Bay Flats Lodge. Capt Harold, Jason, Steve, Cooper, Doug…the list is long and distinguished. Tight Lines friends and thanks for reading.

Better winds and a quick trout limit Sunday morning. Wading mud with scattered shell throwing croaks.
NEW UPDATED ROOMS
I personally want to thank my step daughter Stacy Hedrick and my wife Deb Rauterkus Martin for taping, patching and painting on Memorial Day weekend. You two are Angels, and I love both of you so much. Also want to thank all the employees who worked this weekend keeping our lodge looking beautiful.
