Bay Flats Lodge on San Antonio Bay

TRANSITIONS…Amazing time of year here on Mid Coast Texas at Bay Flats Lodge with this May to June switch in the calendar comes the warm waters suitable for wade fishing without waders or WET wading if you will and so focus is on transitions from muddy to just right to clear waters and today’s fish were in the just right waters, middle of the transition. Moving around was key in finding the fish made much easier by being in the water with the fish, moving slow and fishing your way to the bite then STOPPING to enjoy solid fish in a small area. No kidding this stringer really happened in order trout, red, trout, red etc. today on this outing I fully donated at an auction. Had to take a day off from our busy schedule at BFL, but worth it to get in the salt and do some pre-fishing for upcoming BFL wade trips. School is out this week, so we have plenty of open dates to fish with me next week and in June down here so slam the books in the locker and open that tackle box, the transition to solid fish is ON now.
Capt. Doug Russell
I’m happy with Wednesday’s results. Didn’t get ‘em all, but we did get some solid fish with some variety. A first-timer, from Georgia, caught his limit, so mission accomplished!!
