Bay Flats Lodge on San Antonio Bay
By Captain Chris Martin
Capt. Stephen Boriskie
Repeating long time customers yesterday at Bay Flats Lodge and I got to fish this foursome of entertaining gents including their host Mike C along with the two Davids and Todd. Accomplished anglers already, I appreciated that they listened to my suggestions and applied them too – we guys struggle with that as you gals may know! The efforts began slow on results for keeper trout after bouncing around trying many reefs and sand bars but finally mid morning we had our four man limit of 20 Speckled trout. Switching our focus to more of the delicious table fare in our bays, we changed out tackle and went after Black Drum. The large drum hit first and we had a quick 3 then it slowed and we had 6 after an hour and I thought it would be another limit thing but the bite stopped and we called it a darn good day around 1 pm. Today we get after them again with this same group and come 4 am we will crank it back up. Tight Lines to all and happy Sunday.
Capt. Billy Freudensprung
Another fast paced Saturday morning for trout. Once we got in them good we had no time for photos, fish flopping all over the boat and hooks loaded with fresh croaker sailing back to trick the hungry fish.
Capt. Colton Knipling
Slow steady limit of trout yesterday. Mud/shell in 2.5′ of water. Ready for day two today!
Remember, “Fishing here is not about challenging your fishing limits, but about the art of relaxation.” Good luck, and tight lines to you all…!
