Bay Flats Lodge on San Antonio Bay Report By Captain Chris Martin
October 16, 2012
The lodge was really busy over the weekend with 31-guests of Chet C. and customers. Redfish action overshadowed the trout bite, but everyone was able to locate enough action to keep it fun. On the wade fishing scene, Captain Jason found scores of reds with trout in the 4-5 lb. class being released. Most action was scored on a TFM liquid shrimp TTF lure.
Monday was much better for trout catching especially for Captain David with Greg K. and crew drifting area lakes across San Antonio Bay. According the guests “We drove a long ways in areas I never fished, but it was worth it, David’s Shoalwater Cat was extremely smooth.” Captain’s Harold, TJ, Jonathan, Nick all drifted with live shrimp. Meanwhile Captain Jason wade fished with returning customer Frank G. and guests. They hit the trout & reds over mud/grass while working the windward shorelines. The wind was switching all morning out of the north around 10 mph.
Tuesday-Looks like a carbon copy day for weather, with a little less wind early, but building as rain chances increases due to a disturbance out of the Pacific. We’re looking at a 6-boat schedule today, so I’m sure with the team work of the guides, trout action will continue to improve.
