Young Kids Fishing
We hope everyone had a safe and memorable Thanksgiving. We enjoyed having customers all the way from Arizona to North Carolina over the holidays blasting & casting. Trout action slowed a bit after the cold front, look for reds in skinny water.Over the Thanksgiving weekend, we welcomed 17 Walker family members in for a day and half of blast & casting. Our relationship goes back when John Walker’s young boys were just kids, now several of them are CPA’s working for the big firms. I still remember picking up John’s crew for a fishing trip, and the youngest was riding around on his big wheel. He was just so upset because his older brothers were going fishing with Dad; at that time, the young one was too little to go wade fishing with us.
Fast forward 15 years…when one hears the story about 10 Walker kids all graduating from Texas A&M, the first word comes to mind, is tradition. Now, we see all the grand kids taking the same path to Texas A&M. It’s an incredible pleasure to sit in the lodge and watch Texas A&M final game of the season with 17 Walkers. Let’s just say, it was loud! Whoop…
We also enjoyed having Gary & Deb Ferns over the Thanksgiving week in from Tuscan, with daughters from Houston and North Carolina for 3 days of blasting and casting. Deb runs www.babeswithbullets.com and her all women shooting camps are a huge hit across the country. My wife and daughter look forward to attending the camp in Louisiana next April. We also enjoyed meeting up again with Brian and wife, they enjoyed an afternoon of trout catching before calling it quits due to lightning and thunderstorms.
Post Cold Front Report
Fishing has been great if you don’t mind catching hundreds of small trout. After the cold front passed, we were worried how the bite would be. Would the reds be in ultra skinny water? Would the trout take another week to rebound? Well, after yesterday evenings fishing, we were pleasantly surprised to find both trout and reds right where we left them. With south winds coming back Sunday, look for oyster shell clumps to produced trout. Work 1/8 oz. jig heads above the shell while using TTF plum chartreuse trout killers. Smaller spook top waters in chartreuse clear color were fooling trout mid day before the front hit. This week we have a few spots open for fishing…Give Angie our General Manager a call 1-888-677-4868.
