SALTWATER FISHING REPORT PORT O'CONNOR SEADRIFT

May 09, 2008

The lodge welcomed the Pacific Life group in for a 4-boat trip on Wednesday, and the wind couldn't have been any worst. The crew elected to wade with lures and grind it out.  All the boats did catch a few trout with a mix of reds, but fishing was slow with a ripped bay system. Capt. James Welder's group did manage a heavy trout. As of late, the tides have swollen up, but some of the areas down south seem not to have much water. We also welcomed David Fink and guest to fish with Capt. Jason Wagenfehr using lures and wade fishing. The guys grinded out a decent catch of speckled trout and according to Jason, "Most these trout were fat and nice."

The lodge welcomed a 5-boat trip Thursday for the following groups. Grace, TXI, FCI, and Terry B. party. We finally got a break in the wind, and Capt. Jason was able to hook up near 20- trout for Grace and guest. Capt. TJ managed 11-trout also for Grace, and said the bite was scattered. Meanwhile Capt. James bounced around keeping TXI on a bite; with one guest wade fishing and the rest fishing from the boat. Capt. Chris Castillo wade fish FCI and guest to locate trout to 24" and several other heavy trout. The guys finished up with 11-trout and according to Chris, "The bite was off, but using lures worked." Capt. Nathan had Terry B. group wade fishing with lures. He fished main drains, guts, and shorelines from Ayers Bay to Pringle Lake to find the fish scattered. They did manage catching and releasing a lot of reds.

Friday we have a 4-boat trip with Paul M., Grace, and Circle J and guest. Reports to come.

Capt. Chris Martin
