Captain Nick Dahlman was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He played baseball his whole life all the way to college at the University of Houston. His passion for hunting and fishing was instilled by his father before he could even walk and the rest is history. You could always find Captain Nick in the outdoors growing up, whether it be fishing the waters of Galveston and Matagorda Bay or duck/goose hunting the rice fields of the Katy prairie. Ten years ago, Nick’s family bought a house in Austwell, Texas on San Antonio Bay and they made it down there to fish or duck hunt every chance they got. One of Captain Nick’s favorite types of fishing is the pursuit of trophy speckled trout on the shallow flats throwing top water lures. There is nothing quite like the sight of a 30 inch trout blowing up your lure on the surface in shin deep water. As far as duck hunting goes, you can count on finding Nick out in the marsh with his chocolate lab Bailey every single day of the season. Pintails, Redheads, and Widgeon are his favorite ducks to shoot and you can usually count on bagging heavy straps of them on hunts with him and Bailey. Captain Nick runs a 22 foot Destiny tunnel v-hull boat powered by a Yamaha V-Max motor that is great for crossing a rough bay or running in extremely shallow water in the back lakes of Matagorda Island.
In 2007, Captain Nick was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer that caused him to endure 6 months of rigorous radiation therapy to rid him of it. And then, unluckily in 2009 it came back and he had to go through 6 months of Chemotherapy to clear him again. Now at 26 years old, he has been declared in remission for 3 years with no physical limitations. He does not take anything for granted and lives each day to the fullest! There is no place Captain Nick would rather be than on the water sharing his fishing and duck hunting knowledge with others while they experience the unexplainable beauty San Antonio Bay has to offer!
