Rick Hammond-Guide
Rick graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 with a Bachelors degree in Business Management. Capt. Rick Hammond was raised on coastal fishing and duck hunting. From an early age, he hunted and fished all along the Texas coast with his family. Rick received his USCG Captains license at age 18, and he has been guiding ever since. He decided right out of college that his true calling in life was to show people the wonderful things that the Texas coast had to offer. Rick has exceptional energy and passion for what he does. Many people say that he has a “never give up” attitude, and will work hard to put you on fish or ducks until the bitter end. He provides hands-on educational approach to fishing and hunting, and is dedicated to making sure you have the trip of a lifetime.
Rick is also an avid fly-fisherman, traveling all over the world in search of new fish to catch on the fly. Rick has brought his passion for sight casting to redfish to share with the clients of Bay Flats Lodge. He has over 20 unique fly patterns that he ties to fool even the most wary trout or redfish. When it comes to fly-fishing know-how and sight casting experience, Rick has it covered.
Rick runs a custom 20’Mako Backwater Edition boat with an Evinrude 135. He built this boat by hand in 2003 to be the ultimate “all seasons” boat. Rick also runs a brand new 2008 Beavertail Osprey poling skiff with a 60 Evinrude E-Tec for sight casting and fly-fishing trips.
