James Welder

Nature and wildlife conservancy are essential to this captain's
philosophy. Having grown up in a ranching family that has been in the
Victoria, Texas area since the 1830s, James F. Welder developed early
on a deep appreciation for the land and the wildlife that inhabits it.
He has guided waterfowl hunts for family and friends on his family's
ranches for the past 10 years with great enthusiasm.

The same can be said for his passion for fishing the Gulf Coast, which
he began crafting at age 4 with his father along the San Antonio Bay
system south to Lower Laguna Madre. After attending Southwest Texas
University, James obtained his Captain's license to share his
knowledge and experience on the water with others. James has been an
avid fly fisherman for 15 years. He has spent time in the Bahamas
learning new techniques for fly casting, which he can pass along to
fly-fishing clients at any level. His knack for teaching first timers
with his carefree, relaxed attitude will make learning to fish and
hunt a memorable and rewarding experience.

James captains a 25-foot Majek RFL with a 200 Yamaha and a
19-foot Hewes Redfisher with a 115 Yamaha 4-Stroke for fly fishing
clients.
